Copenhagen Zoo, Denmark: Marius. 2017. Graphite on heavy off-white wove paper. Inscribed "Copenhagen Zoo, Feb 2014, Marius, a healthy 18-month-old giraffe, was deemed 'genetic surplus' and shot in the head," upper margin, and "Then Marius was butchered in front of school children. His body fed to the lions. A month later, the lions and their two 10-month-old cubs were killed to make room for a younger lion, that the zoo wanted to breed," lower margin. 11 1/8" x 8 1/2" (28.3 x 21.6 cm).
